Four sizes cover most motorboats and small sailboats up to 9 meters. The measurements refer to the cradle, not the boat: the compatible length is always greater because the cradle supports the central section of the hull.

How to choose your boat cradle

The correct cradle is not chosen by length alone. There are three factors that can invalidate an initial choice:

1. Hull shape. A deep V-hull does not rest the same as a semi-planing hull or a catamaran. The padded supports adjust in height and angle, but the base cradle must be compatible with the general geometry.

2. Boat beam. If the beam exceeds the useful width of the cradle by more than 30%, the boat will tip sideways when loaded. These cradles have a useful width of 100 cm, so the maximum recommended beam is between 130 and 150 cm depending on the model.

3. Weight (dry MMA). Each cradle has a different load capacity. An 8 m sailboat usually weighs 1,500-2,500 kg, while a RIB of the same size weighs half as much. Without this data, any purchase is blind.

The size of the cradle (length x width) does not match the boat's length. The cradle supports between 30% and 50% of the hull's center. For a 5-meter boat, a 200 cm cradle is sufficient. Can I move a boat with the cradle by myself?

Yes. Hot-dip galvanizing (immersion galvanizing) covers the structure inside and out. It resists salinity and humidity for years without the need for painting or treatment. It is the same system used for lampposts or road barriers in coastal areas.

Is it suitable for sailboats with deep keels?
