The build uses 3 mm hot-dip galvanised steel in the main structure, against the 1.5 mm industry standard. Hot-dip galvanising produces a significantly thicker zinc layer than conventional electroplating, essential for trailers that spend part of their life near the sea or in marinas.
What licence you need
At 12 metres with a payload between 2,670 and 2,800 kg, the trailer's total gross weight comes in at around 3,500 kg. The usual option:
- Category BE licence: covers vehicle plus trailer combinations up to 7,000 kg. The standard choice if you tow with a car of up to 3,500 kg gross weight.
- Category C1E licence: required if the towing vehicle weighs more than 3,500 kg or the combination exceeds 7,000 kg.
