Boat cradle range
Four sizes cover most motorboats and small sailboats up to 9 metres. The measurements refer to the cradle, not the boat: the compatible length is always greater because the cradle supports the mid-section of the hull.
Boat cradle 150x100 cm
For boats from 3.5 to 4.5 m: small inflatables, tenders and two-seater jet skis. Lightweight frame, manoeuvrable by a single person.
Boat cradle 200x100 cm
For boats from 4.5 to 5.5 m: small RIBs, narrow powerboats and light fishing boats. The best-selling size for private use.
Boat cradle 300x100 cm
For boats from 5.5 to 7 m with a narrow beam: small sailboats, large RIBs and slender skiff-type boats.
Boat cradle 400x100 cm
For boats from 7 to 9 m with a narrow hull: sailboats, dory-type boats and elongated RIBs. Oversized, reinforced frame.
How to choose your boat cradle
The right cradle is not chosen by length alone. Three factors can rule out a choice that looks right at first glance:
1. Hull shape. A deep-V hull does not sit the same way as a semi-displacement hull or a catamaran. The padded supports adjust in height and angle, but the base cradle must suit the overall geometry.
2. Beam of the boat. If the beam exceeds the usable width of the cradle by more than 30%, the boat tips sideways when loaded. These cradles have 100 cm of usable width, so the maximum recommended beam is between 130 and 150 cm depending on the model.
3. Weight (dry gross weight). Each cradle has a different load capacity. An 8 m sailboat usually weighs 1,500-2,500 kg; a RIB of the same size weighs half that. Without this figure, any purchase is blind.

Typical uses for a boat cradle
Winter storage ashore. Taking the boat out of the water during the cold months prevents osmosis, dirt and antifouling wear. The cradle holds it safely in a warehouse, garage or covered outdoor area.
Hull maintenance. Polishing gelcoat, applying antifouling or repairing damage requires access to the underwater hull. The cradle frees the keel and lets you work under the boat.

The mobile cradle with wheels is designed to move the boat between work stations or storage areas. Four wheels (two swivelling, with brake) let one or two people manoeuvre it on a smooth floor. It fits a workshop, garage, private warehouse or small boatyard. Affordable investment and adjustable supports that suit several hulls over time.
The fixed storage cradle is static. No wheels, higher load capacity, designed for long-term storage in port and for large boats. Higher investment and usually boat-specific. It is the usual choice in marinas, industrial yards and professional boatyards with their own crane.
If you are going to move the boat often or want to reuse the cradle across boats, the mobile one is the right choice. If you store a heavy boat in port for months or years, the professional fixed cradle does the job better.
Frequently asked questions
What cradle size do I need for my boat?
The cradle measurement (length x width) does not match the length of the boat. The cradle supports between 30% and 50% of the centre of the hull. For a 5-metre boat, a 200 cm cradle is enough. For a 7-metre boat, you need 300 cm. If in doubt, send Arnaud the length, beam, dry weight and hull shape and he will confirm the model.
Can I move a boat on the cradle by myself?
It depends on the weight. A boat of up to 800-1,000 kg can be moved by one person on a smooth floor (polished concrete, warehouse, garage). Above 1,500 kg it is better to work in pairs or use an electric pallet truck. The swivel wheels allow effortless changes of direction.
Does the galvanising hold up outdoors and in a marine environment?
Yes. Hot-dip galvanising (immersion zinc coating) covers the frame inside and out. It withstands salt and humidity for years with no need to paint or treat it. It is the same system used for street lights and crash barriers in coastal areas.
Is it suitable for sailboats with a deep keel?
For small sailboats (up to 7 metres) the adjustable supports hold the hull while the keel hangs free. For sailboats with a very long keel it is best to combine the cradle with a separate keel support. Discuss your specific case with Arnaud.
